Steps
[edit]I'm afraid, Jones and Kantonen got the steps wrong. I'll try to write smth. basic. Mikkalai 21:13, 28 May 2004 (UTC)
- You're right, and I have corrected from other sources. Hyacinth 03:36, 13 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Does anyone besides me disagree with the removal of the dance steps? Especially on the basis that reading the dance steps does not really make somebody know Hustle, it needs some videos and music examples. Hyacinth 09:32, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
Links
[edit]"Van McCoy's song A line dance which was called Hustle became an international dance craze in 1975 following Van McCoy and the Soul City Symphony's "Hustle"."--This page links to itself. Perhaps the Hustle (dance) should be separated from the Hustle (song), leaving a short reference to the song and the link.
A lack of a separate song page also interrupts the links for Billboards #1 Hot 100 songsDOMICH 20:02, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
clockwise vs counter-clockwise?
[edit]One difference between hustle and most other partner dances is that clockwise movements, for both the individual and the couple, predominate. Counter-clockwise movements predominate in most ballroom dances. This is not my experience. Waltz, foxtrot, and other dances seem to me to also mostly rotate clockwise. I removed it pending a citation otherwise. --NealMcB (talk) 15:48, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
- Support removal. Both statements are wrong. - 7-bubёn >t 16:38, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
Self-outdating citations are a problem
[edit]The reference to "is coming back in popularity" (sans date) and "on the DVD commentary" are both problematic citations that outdate themselves as time and technology move forward. It would make more sense to say "as of the year..." and "in <year> according to <name of commentator> in a commentary on the film..." I realize not everyone may agree with this now, but they will eventually. ;) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.127.136.234 (talk) 12:09, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
New York Hustle section
[edit]The article says the count for the rock step starts on 1 in hustle but not swing. I learned both dances could be counted either way, i.e., you can start counting with the rock step in swing, if you want, and do the rock step on &3 in hustle. I don't think it is standardized. Promotional changes
[edit]I suggest someone familiar with the subject matter review the changes made by 24.186.232.171 on 17 November 2016. The inclusion of a promotional link to a book website makes me skeptical of their value. --Lkseitz (talk) 20:05, 13 March 2017 (UTC)
